Alberta Legislature Virtual Tour
The Alberta Legislative building was constructed from 1907 to 1913 in the then popular Beaux Arts style which borrowed influences from Egyptian, Roman and Greek architectural features.
A high central dome overarching a large rotunda, arched windows and a columned portico area all identify this style.
Alberta sandstone and British Columbia granite were used in the construction of the building along with imported fixtures and fittings.

Alberta Legislature Library
The Legislature Library has operated since 1906, and in its current location since 1911.
Sometimes called the Provincial Library, this library is primarily used by MLA's (Members of the Legislative Assembly), but is also available to the general public.
The library contains comprehensive collections in Alberta and Federal government documents, Alberta newspapers and Alberta history and politics.
Excellent collections of government documents from other Canadian provinces and territories are available. Notable collections in public administration, comparative politics, and political science may also be found at the Legislature Library.
