Membership

In order to shop at Costco, you need to have a membership. Costco offers two types of memberships.

An Executive Membership is the most expensive type of membership - but with it, you receive a 2% reward on most of your Costco purchases - the goal obviously then is to make more money back than you spent on the membership.

A Business Membership allows you to shop at Costco and gives you 6 additional cards so that other members of your business can also shop at the store.

A Gold Star Membership allows you to shop at Costco and enjoy the discounted items at the store.

Costco Groceries

At Costco, all groceries are sold in bulk. If you have the space in your kitchen, this is nice because it may limit the amount of times in a month you have to run to the grocery store.

I did some comparison shopping with other grocery stores in town and found that on a lot of items Costco does have the cheaper price - cheaper than a lot of other inexpensive grocery stores in Edmonton.

My favourite part about grocery shopping at Costco is...yes...just about everywhere you turn there is someone offering you a sample of food! It's great to keep the kids entertained as you shop - and it's kind of nice to try new things - some of which I never would have ventured to buy otherwise.

The only small complaint that I have about Costco groceries is the limited selection of items - while they have a lot of different grocery items - they don't carry many different brands of those items.

Costco Gas Station

Costco gas is sometimes the reason why some people get a Costco membership - the cheap gas. It is usually several cents below the going rate other places in town - and yes - that does add up over the course of the year. To make your gas even cheaper - if you have the Executive Membership - then you even get money back when you purchase gas.

Costco Returns

Costco has the best return policy - no questions asked - just save your receipts.

They'll take items back that have quit working - even if it is a year old.

They'll take food back that has begun to go bad - even if you've already eaten some of it.

You can shop with confidence, knowing that you can take your purchase back if you are not satisfied.
