Every year, Edmonton, Alberta gets covered with a very thick blanket of snow. Snow that stays on the ground for half the year.

With the snow comes a lot of work for Edmontonians. In the midst of Edmonton winter weather, there's a lot of shovelling and scooping to do.

But the snow is not all work and no fun. There's plenty of fun things to do during the winter. Tobogganing is great fun.

If you want to park along the side of your street in the winter, you're going to have to shovel out the snow pile left by the snow plows or you'll have to park on top of the snow mound! A great Edmonton winter photo op!

If you want to venture out to a playground in the middle of winter with your kids - you'll find that many have become a playground in miniture. With the snow so high, the thrill factor of going down the slide is not that exciting!

The city of Edmonton works hard to remove all the snow from the roads. In fact, I've never seen so many different kinds of vehicles used to remove snow!

All the snow collected from plowing the roads are loaded on to huge dump trucks and taken to one of the snow dumps.
